“I am drawn to those parts; I like the tough girls because they are not tough. It’s a veil; it’s a disguise. It’s defenses. At the core, everybody is human, everybody is fragile, everybody is terrified, and the fear is what propels you to be tough.”

what i’ve discovered — and i think it’s the reason why [acting] is so scary and so thrilling to me — is that there is no right or wrong in it. as soon as i start thinking in terms of right and wrong, all my creativity shuts down. i become the good student as opposed to the person who goes out and just falls on her face and tries things and takes risks. there’s a huge degree of not knowing anything that happens, for me, when i’m interested in exploring.

“[When I first went to L.A.], I was drawn into this thing where I thought that I should lose weight, curl my hair, tweeze my moustache, whiten my teeth and wear more makeup [to get more parts]. My pride stopped me from all that. I realized I’ve always loved that I don’t look like everyone I see on television. I also don’t want to play perfect people or a conventional-looking person.” – Tatiana Maslany for Fashion Magazine
“Trust your gut, you know yourself. So don’t let somebody else tell you who you are.”

get to know me [17/20] favorite celebrities: tatiana maslany ♥ i’ve never heard the term ‘strong male character.’ that doesn’t mean anything. so what does ‘strong female character’ mean? we’re so ready to put a label on something instead of leaving room for every different kind of expression, every vulnerable, weak, funny, vulgar, stupid thing. It’s just people, right? there are layers and levels, and you can’t put somebody in a box.
